Sports Massage Therapy

For professional sports massage in Woodbridge, I am a highly trained and experienced therapist, here to help you with your training goals, support recovery from injury and post-competition muscle relief.

Brilliant massage and very knowledgeable. After seeing Neil I raced a half marathon and came away with a 5 minute pb. Would highly recommend.

I visited Neil a number of times in the build up to a challenging endurance event in order to improve recovery from training sessions and to identify physiological weaknesses that might impair performance. The service that Neil provided was excellent, the massages were thorough and made a massive difference. He has so much knowledge about exercises and physical adjustments which might improve performance.

How can sports massage support your training?

Client having Sports Massage

Sports massage is the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of soft tissues of the body including muscles, ligaments and tendons. As a sports massage therapist, I am highly trained to provide you with a professional service, tailor-made to suit your specific, individual needs.

It involves a wide variety of different pressures, often deeper, more intense and focused than in conventional massage, to help speed up an athlete’s recovery time and help prevent injury.

A sports massage has been shown to have many benefits, including:

  • Muscle relaxation and recovery
  • Reduction of fatigue
  • Relief of swelling around your joints
  • Boost circulation and the immune system so that the body heals more quickly
  • Increase and improve your flexibility and body strength
  • Reduce blood pressure and heart rate
  • Increase lymph flow
  • Make it easier for you to recover quicker after strenuous exercise
  • Make it less likely for you to get injuries by getting rid of muscle tension

In Pre-event massage, firm vigorous techniques are applied to help encourage warmth and stimulate circulation. Many clients have found this helps to enhance their performance and helps to release tight muscle so that their joints can be moved through their full range of motion.

In Post-event massage, light slow pressure and techniques are applied to help relieve muscular soreness and assists in the removal of waste products such as lactic acid. Post-event sports massage can also be applied after a heavy training session as well as after a competitive event.

I have been to see Neil this week and he is brilliant and very knowledgeable. Any runners out there with ‘niggles’ definitely go and see him.

I barely walked into Neil's surgery, but 45 minutes later I virtually danced out. I can't believe the difference he made in such a short time. I definitely recommend going to Neil for all your aches and pains. So very relaxed now too.

Had a great sports massage with Neil. I cycle and play football regularly, so legs take a pounding. Neil got exactly the right balance of working into the muscle properly (with the necessary discomfort to get to that point of relief), without just damaging me. Will return and look to incorporate as a regular part of my training.

As a recently qualified fitness instructor, I do a larger number of weight based and high intensity aerobic sessions. Having had a number of sessions with Neil, my muscles are definitely less tight. Neil has given me tools that I can implement outside of massage sessions, to ensure the benefits of massage are longer lasting.
